Your job

As our Data Scientist, you help realize the delivery of the ABN AMRO Strategy by generating valuable insights from complex sets of data. In your day-to-day work you use multiple data science tools and data ecosystems to analyze insights and provide advice on how these insights could create value for your stakeholders inside and outside the bank. There are thousands of opportunities in data and you enjoy looking for them to turn data into value, constantly looking for new innovations and tools to apply. You are the connector between data and our strategy!

Some examples of your responsibilities:

Examining and applying metadata and other data sets that are highly diverse and complex
Developing integrated data-driven solutions in business and IT processes
Exploring existing and new data, models and techniques, finding suitable ones and applying them
Staying in touch with stakeholders to give advice that comes from data, allowing decisions to be made based on data
Finding new and innovative ways to analyze data together with your team

Working environment

As a Data Scientist you will be part of Data & Insights, a cross-functional team that is responsible for the delivery of different types of data products, servicing a wide range of stakeholders in the I&T organization. Here, you will work with the latest technology and tools to build your data products. The atmosphere in the team is informal, and we’re ok with making ‘mistakes’ as long as everyone is open about it and learns from it. We all work together at the frontier of a major digital revolution and with the core value-assets (data!) of the organization. Data & Insights therefore is in constant collaboration with business users, data providers, platform teams and many other teams to improve the delivery of their products.

The team Data & Insights consists of Data Management Experts, Data Analysts and Data Scientists. In total approximately 24 FTE report to one manager. The team primarily services MT I&T and underlying departments like DM&A, Strategy Execution Office, P&T, Procurement and the CIO's, but also participates in multiple bank-wide projects.

The team consists of talented data professionals that collaborate in projects and programs based on the capabilities that are required. We fully support the development of our colleagues and facilitate opportunities that support this development. Autonomy and flexibility are two of many characteristics of the team. We are normally situated at the Zuidas in Amsterdam, but of course nowadays we are fully into Hybrid Working.

Your profile

You are an analytical thinker, a do-er, whose behaviour reflects the culture principles of courage, care and collaboration. Very important is that you are able to translate business challenges to data solutions, like a true Data Science Evangelist. You have a passion for statistics and use this to gain valuable insights from data! You are able to see relationships and are able to translate these to new insights while maintaining a clear overview. Working with others inspires you to come up with new ideas and you are excited to share your insights with multiple stakeholders and data specialists!

This is on your resume:

BSc or MSc in a relevant field, like Mathematics, Science, Econometrics, etc.
Experience with using big data techniques and machine learning techniques
Experience in initiative innovation projects
Up-to-date on new data analysis methods
Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP)
You have experience with Databricks/Spark
You are proficient in Python and DAX
Fluent in English
