The People Analytics team is a diverse team, rapidly developing ING’s People Analytics capability across the globe. Our mission is to enable ING in making evidence-based people and organisation decisions that help ING in its transformation to become the go-to financial platform. The team applies advanced analytical techniques to provide data driven insights into what really matters to employees and which human capital investments really drive business results.

The Community and Partnering squad which is part of People Analytics, is a new team, established in 2023.  We enable the People Analytics mission through:

  • Awareness and adoption: We enable our leaders to make better decisions with evidence led HR because they are aware of what we offer and how we can support them. Our community are data fluent and they are able to understand data, our products and be able to navigate our tools
  • Partnering: We enable evidence led HR by helping our leaders identify the right problems to solve. We partner with our HR community to build supporting tools that enable HR processes. We support strategic decision making by offering deep insights and best practices
  • Seamless experience: We enable evidence led HR by offering a seamless analytics experience. Our operational excellent infrastructure is managed by our highly skilled team that uses clear ethical principles, data governance and global metrics in their Way of Working.

Roles & responsibilities

As People Analytics Translator with a specialism in data analysis, you are an advocate on data driven decisions!  You will identify new use cases as well as define, refine and scope business problems that analytics can help solve. You will guide our technical team in the creation of analytics-driven solutions to these problems, work with the business to provide regular feedback, and embed the solutions into the business.

The data analyst specialism is also key to this role as you will translate business challenges into data and analytics solutions. You use your analytical approach and solid communication skills to scope the real business problems and provide actionable insights and scenarios for stakeholders decision making. You can quickly design and build a (mock-up) dashboard in Excel, and if needs be, you scale it up into a PowerBI dashboard, building it end-to-end with its data pipelines developed in SQL and/or PowerBI DAX. You deliver timely, reliable and valid information and assess feasibility and workability of ad hoc requests. You ensure that management reporting is effective and consistent. The information you provide will be used on a strategic level, to facilitate discussions on topics like recruitment, turnover, diversity, performance & reward.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • You are on the front line, proactively identifying and translating people insights into actionable initiatives
  • Manage (end-to-end) products, roll out, and provide overall quality assurance:
  • Identify the value of a use case, prioritise and align with the overall People Analytics portfolio with guidance from the leads
  • Communicate between analytics and the business
  • Work on key processes required to build and deliver the product (e.g. data access requests, data protection impact assessments, business impact assessments etc.)
  • Understand modelling language and commonly use techniques
  • Guide and challenge modelling choices
  • Assist the technical team to translate technical concepts to stakeholders and vice versa
  • Share relevant domain knowledge to help shape output
  • Establish continuous feedback and improvement loops to constantly develop and ensure cutting edge development of our initiatives
  • You anticipate bottlenecks and bring together all necessary resources in order to successfully deliver in a timely manner
  • You create and present your Business Intelligence (BI) solutions in a meaningful and user-accessible way
  • You work for the improvement of current processes and are able to design new ones in an effort of continuous improvement
  • You use your technical knowledge to decide on the adoption of new technologies that can improve the team’s performance and delivery

How to succeed

To be able to succeed in this role, it calls for strong business acumen, stakeholder management, some technical knowledge, project management, delivery and customer focus, and an eye for translating data into insights which are easy to understand outcomes with impact.

  • You have at least 3 years of work experience as a data analyst or in BI & advanced reporting, having consultancy background is a plus
  • You are skilled in PowerBI dashboarding and can design efficient data models & writing DAX measures
  • You can create SQL ETL for your dashboards in MSSQL Server
  • You are experienced in Microsoft Excel & VBA
  • You have knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and statistical analysis (e.g. psychometrics, multivariate statistics, and sampling methodologies)
  • You have a solid understanding of data privacy protection laws, e.g. GDPR
  • You are preferably skilled in OOP such as Python and version control in Git Azure DevOps
  • You are familiar with visualisation and UX tools

Competencies

  • You are familiar with human resources and/or finance reporting practices, having working experience in HR field is a plus
  • You are able to translate your findings and recommendations into the business language of your stakeholders
  • You have proven capability in problem solving and finding creative solutions to technical and business problems
  • You easily partner with senior leaders and subject matter experts to drive results
  • You have excellent English communication skills
  • You thrive in a demanding international work environment
  • You have strong project management skills
  • You are a great team player, able to actively engage your colleagues by sharing, giving and asking for help
