Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for a senior Data Engineer to join our Financial Data Services teams at NN to help us design, build, deploy and run the data solutions for Finance & Risk that will drive our Data Strategy. We have been working on implementing our Data Strategy in the last 5+ years. This is already paying off with the new future-proof data platforms that we now have in place. However, we need to accelerate our implementation and get ready for the next challenges: enabling AI, integrating data platforms with our legacy systems, provide data via self-service and redesigning our business processes to become data-driven.
We need a senior Data Engineer to join our Data Services team in the Finance domain at NN. This team is responsible for building and running multiple data solutions, such as the ESG Central Data Platform, MIP and others. These solutions are running on Azure and are built with Azure native data technologies, such as Data Factory and Databricks.
Common activities for the Data Engineer to work on in this position are:
- Design, implement and maintain data pipelines using best practices
- Write automated unit and regression tests
- Build scalable, reusable and future proof data pipelines
- Have a close eye on developments in the cloud and data marketplace to apply innovations on our platform
- Perform code reviews of other developers
- Design and implement data storage layer with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
- Work on solutions for ingesting batch and streaming data and transform using Databricks Spark notebooks using Delta Lake
- Align with colleagues on solution design and architecture
- Advice on the use of the features and technologies such as Databricks Unity Catalog which could deliver business benefits
- Align with colleagues in different teams on the Product Backlog and Roadmap of the team

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and experience
- 5+ years experience working on data solutions as data engineer
- Multiple years experience in working with Azure technologies
- Multiple years experience in working with Azure data technologies such as Data Factory and Databricks
- Multiple years experience working with Python
- Hands on experience with PySpark
- Knowledge of data engineering concepts and capable of applying this to solution design and architecture
- Experience with data modeling
- Multiple years experience in working
- Living in The Netherlands and willing to come to the office in The Hague 2 days per week
- Fluent in English, both verbal and in writing
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum and DevOps teams
We prefer candidates with one or more of the following skills and experience:
- Experience in working in the Financial Services industry
- Experience with enterprise software development (Java, C#)
- Fluent in Dutch
